A STILL LIFE.

Based in the U.S., erostakles uses art to explore the forms and values of sexuality all around us — both hidden and explicit. Though American and religious society have tried to neutralize and sanitize the human sexual experience many times in history, inevitably human nature wins out; and erostakles believes that is a truly beautiful thing. Drawing inspiration from Piet Mondrian, Roy Lichtenstein, and Gengoroh Tagame, erostakles uses line and form to explore the dichotomies of order and chaos; captivity and freedom; sin and sainthood. In his paintings, erostakles is pulls from the Dutch still-life masters and their layered and symbolic compositions and subject matter — but with more a more colorful angle.
