The Trials and Tribulations of Finding a Quality Gay Art Printer
i had hoped to be revealing my limited edition "Tripdycheads" prints today. But after almost 2 months — and many back-and-forths with the vendor i thought i would be using — i'm starting over in my quest for a quality printer instead.
Quality is paramount to me. i may not have the academic degrees to back up my artistic legitimacy, but perhaps that’s why the perfectionist in me stresses so much about getting the details right?
When i was complaining about some of the quality of the product samples i’d received back, a friend mentioned that i shouldn’t worry so much because it’s just merchandise, and people shouldn’t expect the highest-end products.
i understand what he was saying, but… i can’t agree. At all.
The reputation of my art and my merchandise matter a great deal to me. If you buy something from me, i want you to be absolutely happy with it — after all, part of why i’m pursuing this art is to spark joy in a world so short on it these days.
It’s not like any of us are made of money in this pre-recession time, so i take your business personally and with great gratitude. Disappointed customers and fans are the last thing i want in this life.
And so, even though it’s going to take me more time to find a quality printer for my seven (yes, only seven — more on that here) gay art prints, i know it’s the right thing to do — for both me and you, my dear friends and supporters.
The Good News: Ready-to-Hang Gay Wall Art Is Here!
While my frames remain empty, i do have some good news: i received my sample ready-to-hang, stretched-canvas version, and i was very happy with the quality.
Now when i first took it out of the box, i was disheartened by some black scuff marks on the canvas. Thinking i would also have to email the vendor about problems with this, i tried to wipe the mark off and realized it was some kind of dirt. With a wet washcloth and a cleaning toothbrush, i was able to remove all of the black marks with zero damage to the canvases — impressive durability!
The colors are bold, and the details look remarkably sharp. The vendor says it uses UL-certified Greenguard Gold inks, which i researched and found are rigidly tested to meet strict environmental standards for low chemical, volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This means they’re not going to give off chemical fumes in your home — something i’m very happy about!
The canvas company also uses pine wood from Forest Stewardship Council certified renewable forests for their frames. Double happy with that eco-friendly knowledge.
Also, the stretched canvases come with hanging hardware already installed, and two small rubber dots on the bottom corners to protect your walls and help stabilize your wall art once it’s up. (Will the bonuses ever end?!)
Even though these won’t be signed and logged into my catalogue, there won’t be limits on how many can be out there — so they will always be in stock. And as such, they’re definitely a cheaper, budget-friendly option.
They also come in a variety of sizes and price points. The single, horizontal canvas featuring the complete triptych comes in 18”x12” (as seen in the photo), 24”x16”, 30”x20”, 36”x24”, 48”x32”, and a LARGE 60”x40”. (Prices as of Oct. 28, 2025, range from $34.99 to $199.99.)
i also am offering each of the individual vertical panels in several sizes, so you could purchase your favorite one on its own — or if you wanted to get really ambitious with your interior design, you could buy all three individual canvases and space them on your wall — recreating something close to what the original panels would look like. These individual gay wall art canvases come in 10”x20”, 15”x30”, 20”x40”, and 30”x60”. (Prices as of Oct. 28, 2025, range from $34.99 to 174.99 each.)
Dear Diary — Gay Journals a Success!
More good news arrived with my canvas: My journal samples came as well.
While i wish they came in a 8.5”x11” size, i’m thrilled with the quality. The softcover art is vivid in color and sharp in detail — and it's flexible but strong. The inside pages are crisp, and the lined writing pages are great. i haven’t tried to tear any pages out, but they are perforated, so i will have to try a tear at some point (even if it hurts my soul a little bit).
i ordered my samples in the 100-page version, but i’m selling the 200-page version because it’s a better bang for your buck, and to make up for the smaller 5”x8” size format. So take the visual thickness in my photos and double it.
i’m definitely excited to jot down more art ideas in these bad boys! You can get yours here.
